What is a Delaware Certificate of Good Standing?

A Certificate of Good Standing is a document issued by Delaware that declares that a company is active and in good standing and has a legal existence. It features the State's seal, signature of Delaware Secretary of State and authentication number and is usually valid for no longer than 90 days. Many banks require this document to open accounts, and many other States will want to see one for companies wishing to register in their jurisdiction in what is called a "foreign registration" or "Application for Authority".
